Welcome Nancy Grace! (Plus Health Updates on Bean, Sally & Frankie)

We have a new face at Roxy's Farm — please say hello to Nancy Grace!

Nancy Grace came to us from a heartbreaking hoarding situation in Tennessee, where rescuers pulled more than 130 chihuahuas from a single overcrowded property outside Nashville this spring. Many of the dogs were suffering from untreated medical issues after years of neglect. You can read about the rescue operation here: Operation Little Dogs, Big Hearts — Animal Rescue Corps

She's been through more than any little dog should have to endure, and we're so glad she's landed somewhere she'll never have to worry again. We'll share more about her as she settles in.

It's also been a busy stretch for vet care here at the farm:

Bean went in for surgery on an abscessed tooth — and once the vet got a good look, the trouble ran deeper than one tooth. All but a handful had to come out. The good news: Bean is doing great. Dogs do remarkably well without their teeth, and a pain-free, infection-free mouth beats a mouthful of bad teeth every time. Toothless and thriving.

Sally is healing from a laceration to her breast. She's moved into the garage for now so we can keep her quiet and manage her wound care — which has us planning ahead: the farm needs a dedicated recovery space for animals healing from surgery and injury. That's a project we'll be taking on, and one you'll hear more about soon.

Frankie,

our chiweenie, gave us a real scare and needed emergency intestinal surgery. He's just one day out as we write this, and he's slowly on the mend. Keep him in your thoughts — we'll post updates as he heals.
