Meet Norma and Norman!

August is off to a crazy start at Roxy‘s farm. We welcomed two Icelandic sheep! Seven year old Norma and her 5 week old baby boy Norman. Since spooky season is around the corner, we thought we’d name them after Norma and her son Norman Bates, the Bates Motel! 

We were contacted by a breeder/farmer that had Norma for seven years and she was starting to have disabled babies with Parrot mouth. They no longer had any use for her and could not breed her baby Norman since he carried the gene as well. Given they had her for quite some time they’d wanted her go to a sanctuary rather than an auction where she would probably end up slaughtered. 

Mentally she has been through a lot and is not comfortable around humans. They recently got a full check up at the vet and their bloodwork turned out perfect. Unfortunately, they have several parasites that need to be cleaned up with medicine.

Norma is not too fond of our goats, therefore we are currently starting a new enclosure so her and Norman can live together and have a little bit more room without being bothered by the boys.
